Polish culture for international ERASMUS+ students
The beginning of October began with another dance and educational success for the Folk Group “Wielkopolanie”. Thanks to cooperation with the ESN AMU Poznań Association, concerts were once again held together with workshops for international students of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
During the concerts, students from all over the world had the opportunity to learn Polish national dances: polonaise, mazur, krakowiak, kujawiak and oberek. During specially prepared workshops, participants took their first steps to the rhythms of these wonderful dances and also learned about such issues of national culture as a detailed description of folk costumes and traditions occurring in Poland. Among the dancers’ performances and dance lessons, there was also time to learn more about the culture of the region the students decided to visit – in addition to the proud and wonderful Polish national dances, there were also folk games and dances from the Wielkopolska region, such as „brzuchaty”, „dupnik”, „ceglorz” and szmyt”.
The idea behind conducting this type of concerts and workshops is the desire to spread Polish culture among various nations of the world with particular emphasis on tradition, folk dance and music. Moreover, the event began a Welcoming Week for international students of Adam Mickiewicz University, which is a showcase of what young people will have the opportunity to discover during their stay in Poland.
