Christmas Eve Meeting of Folk Group Wielkopolanie

Christmas – time of joy, love, but also time spent with family. The tradition of sitting at the Christmas Eve table, singing carols, sharing the Christmas wafer and exchanging wishes, as every year, also came to Folk Group “Wielkopolanie”.

On December 18th, a large family of the management, dancers and musicians of the Group sat at the Christmas Eve table. The warmth of the meeting was accompanied by melodious carols and pastorals. Over a hundred participants of the meeting sang a number of traditional Christmas songs. Then it was time for the formal part of the meeting – summing up the year and exchanging wishes while sharing the Christmas wafer. The whole meeting was crowned by a Christmas Eve feast, during which the participants spent time together talking, reminiscing and making plans for the New Year.

The past year, as Piotr Kulka – the Group Manager said, was very busy for the people of Wielkopolanie. It was full of concerts, both full-length and educational, numerous trips to dance tournaments, trips abroad, workshops, almost 300 artistic events in total. The dancers of the group had many opportunities to get to know each other better and make friends, as well as learn how to cooperate with each other. The most important thing, however, is that thanks to their systematic involvement, they contribute to saving Polish musical and dance traditions from oblivion and cultivate especially the folk traditions of Wielkopolska.
