Kids Fun Folk 2019
The International Children’s Folklore Festival “Kids Fun Folk” is an event organized since 2010. This festival is a holiday of music, dance, singing, cultivating and disseminating the achievements of the intangible cultural heritage of many nationalities. It takes place on the terrain of the City of Poznań in Wielkopolska Voivodship. The festival is dedicated to children and young people from all around the world. In this year was the 10th edition of Kids Fun Folk, from 12 to 16 June, over two hundred young artists from six countries: Poland, Thailand, Romania, Latvia, Slovakia and Ukraine took part and the honorary patron of this event was Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region.
Dancers of the Folkloristic Group “Wielkopolanie”, as in the previous years, actively participated in the organization of the festival. Some of them were pilots and translators of foreign groups, others created a technical team for the entire week, others, as volunteers, helped in handling all festival events. Our dancers not only significantly contributed to the organization of this event, but also formed many valuable friendships with guests from abroad.
The International Children’s Festival of Folklore Kids Fun Folk is a week of unforgettable artistic impressions and emotions. During this week, our artists presented themselves at the city center streets patrade, open performances, educational concerts and dance workshops in schools. Dancers and musicians showed their talent in Poznań, Kleszczew and in Kostrzyn. The festival was accompanied by unusual events such as “Tramwajada”, whose aim was to invite residents to open concerts. The organizers also prepared the “Evening of folk games”, “City Folk Game”, the Art Contest for children form Wielkopolska region “Child in the folklore of the world”, that created the most colourlfull event in Poznań these June days. The “Festival Town” located in the park in the Old Warta River Mura came out to be a great place for all families where everybody could spend their time in the interesting way. Every guest could admire performances of bands, participate in folk crafts workshops, buy hand-made items, get to know the fun and dances from around the world, not only watching but also actively participating in them.
The organizers of the festival, the “Open up to folklore” association, as in previous years, express great gratitude for all help and hope for future cooperation to “Wielkopolanie” artist who always with great enthusiasm and joy voluntarily support initiatives aimed at spreading beautiful folklore.
