Like every year, the dancers of “Wielkopolanie” group invited their associates and friends to spend with each other one of this carnival Fridays.
For more than 200 guests “Wielkopolanie” started the ball traditionally with noble polonaise with mazurka. After performing those oldest of the national dances 12 pairs assembled invited guests and danced together not only polonaise but also polka and lively oberek.
After welcoming the guests the dancers proceeded to the next point of program specially prepared for this event. Those were dances from India and Jordan referring to the tour which “Wielkopolanie” had last year. For two months more than 50 dancers studiously practiced dances of other nations under the watchful eye of
choreographers: Agnieszka Głowacka, Hanna Jaworska, Marcin Lewandowski and Jan Galasiński. First on stage came warriors from Jordan followed by exotic dancers in sari and powerful men of India. After their performance “Wielkopolanie” invited to the stage Mr and Mrs Włodzimierz and Krystyna Scholz, the former dancers of group, acting in it from the very beginning. Mr and Mrs Scholz has always supported actions of “Wielkopolska” in all their history and, of course, participated in all balls of “Wielkopolanie” – that is, in 2009 already in the 25th ball. After presenting them with memorial diplomas and singing traditional “Sto lat” the stage was taken by Hindus dancers performing dances from Bollywood.
For all the guests members of group prepared also an exhibition of artistic photos of the 2008 tour through India, Kuwait, Turkey and Jordan and the great prize-lottery.
It didn’t run out of fun and joy till dawn.
