Workshops for international ERASMUS+ students of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

On February 27, Folk Group “Wielkopolanie” once again had the pleasure of conducting dance workshops for foreign guests visiting Poznań. Thanks to cooperation with the ESN UAM Poznań Association, concerts were held in combination with classes for international students of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.
During the workshops, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Polish national dances: polonez, mazur, krakowiak, kujawiak and oberek. Participants could not only watch a dance performance prepared by the dancers of “Wielkopolanie” group, but also take their first steps in the rhythms of these wonderful dances and familiarize themselves with such issues of national culture as a detailed description of folk costumes and traditions occurring in Poland. Among the dancers’ performances and dance lessons, there was also time to get to know the culture of the region that the students decided to visit better – in addition to the proud and wonderful Polish national dances, there were also games and dances from the Wielkopolska region, such as brzuchaty, dupnik, ceglorz or szmyt.
It is worth mentioning that the workshops conducted by the “Wielkopolanie” Folk Group were part of a larger event called Welcoming Week, an introductory week during which international students had the opportunity to get to know the city of Poznań, local and national cuisine, the university and the inhabitants of the city, which is a showcase of what young people will be able to experience during their stay in Poland.
The idea behind conducting this type of concerts and workshops is the desire to spread Polish culture among different nations of the world, with particular emphasis on tradition, dance and folk music.
