On April 16th, at the Music School of Mieczysław Karłowicz in Poznań, the second stage of the 3rd National Vocal Competition of Stanisław Jopek took place. Once again, the Folkloristic Group “Wielkopolanie” had the honor to be the organizer of subsequent auditions, this time in a macro-regional form for several cities in Poland: Poznań (wielkopolskie voivodeship), Gorzów Wielkopolski and Zielona Góra (lubuskie voivodeship), as well as Szczecin (west pomeranian voivodeship). “Wielkopolanie” hosted participants from the above-mentioned centers who qualified from the first round of the Competition.

The organizer of the 3rd National Vocal Competition named after Stanisław Jopek is the National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Mazowsze”. The competition is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Mazowieckie Voivodeship Government. The originators of the project are guided by the idea of popularizing among Polish both well-known and rarely performed pieces of “Mazowsze”, but also to bring the profile of the patron of the Competition closer to the audience. Auditions for the first part of the Competition were conducted in nearly fifty local centers, from among which participants qualified for the second stage of the Competition were selected. In the second part, they had to prepare three songs from the repertoire of “Mazowsze” – two new songs and one song that they performed during the first stage.

Participants of the Competition competed in four age categories, presenting their vocal skills in front of the Jury, which consisted of:

– Mirosław Ziomek – Choirmaster of the State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Mazowsze”,– Waldemar Reich – Head of the Competition Office,– Anna Janosz – Professor of the Music Education Department of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and the Music Academy in Gdańsk,– Karolina Staśkiewicz Krzak – ethnomusicologist and music educator.During the second stage of the Competition, the jury, participants and the audience could hear the vocal skills of two dancers of the Folk Group “Wielkopolanie”:– Dominika Dzilne in category I,– Maja Murmiłło in category III.Both participants convinced the Jury with their voices and qualified for the final round of the Competition! For the struggles of the third stage, the winners in each age group will be invited to the headquarters of “Mazowsze” in Otrębusy near Warsaw, where, after selecting the best voices in Poland, a gala concert of “Mazowsze” with their participation will take place.Congratulations to all participants of the Competition and we wish you further successes!
