The October meetings of Master and Student are over!
Another month has passed during the National Institute of Rural Culture and Heritage’s “Master-Student 2025” scholarship program. The October phase of the project “Save from Oblivion – Dance Culture of Poznań’s Former Villages” concluded with further meetings between master Piotr Kulka and student Filip Laskowski.
The October meetings were devoted to traditional games popular during everyday gatherings and events celebrated by the former inhabitants of Poznań’s villages. During theoretical and practical workshops, the student learned about dances such as “Wałek”, “Dupnik”, “Przepiórka”, and others. Characteristic children’s games and activities were also presented: “Służba” and “Obraczka”. Additionally, children’s clothing, formerly common in the Poznań region, was discussed.
The project aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the inhabitants of Poznań’s former villages and its current districts, which is shaped by traditional customs, rituals, songs, music, dances, and costumes.
We invite you to view photos from the sixth stage of the project, as well as a short video summarizing the sixth month of work by the Master and Apprentice:
