On the 13th of May, 2009 at 9:30 opening ceremony of the Adam Mickiewicz University‘s Sports Day was held at the Department of Physics in Morasko, Poznań. Ceremony was opened by Rector Magnificus  Prof. Bronisław Marciniak.

Throughout the day on all the sports facilities at the University games were played in different disciplines: volleyball, basketball, swimming, mountain cycling, rowing (on indoor rower), aerobics and many others. Sports Day was held as part of University’s Jubilee Celebrations.

University was founded 90 years ago by the Poznań Society of Friends of Science as “Wszechnica Piastowska” which from 1920 bore the name “University of Poznań” and since 1955 the name of “Adam Mickiewicz University”. As part of the celebrations numerous conferences, meetings and exhibitions were held in Poznan and Greater Poland.

“Wielkopolanie” presented themselves once again on the Sports Day. This time for University Authorities and gathered students group performed repertoire of dances from Spiš region choreographed by Leszek Rembowski with music by Stanislaw Horbik.
