Polish Culture and Polish National Dance Workshops for Participants of the Summer School at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

On July 29th and 31st, national rhythms resounded at the Collegium Maius of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology. Participants of the two-week Polish language course conducted by the Polish Language and Culture Center for Foreigners at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań took part in workshops led by Folk Group “Wielkopolanie”.

During the meeting, participants from various countries were greeted with a showcase of Poznań – a performance by a couple in costumes of Poznań Bambers, showcasing the dance and music culture of Poznań’s former inhabitants. Next, a three-hour workshop began, during which participants had the opportunity to learn key elements of Polish cultural heritage, traditions, and customs, and to try their hand at learning Polish national dances: the polonaise, mazur, krakowiak, kujawiak, and oberek, as well as other folk dances such as the szmyt, ceglorz, and brzuchaty.

Organized by “Wielkopolanie,” the dance workshops are intended to introduce foreign guests to Polish national and regional culture, allowing them to learn the richness and diversity of Poland’s folk heritage, ancient traditions, and folk customs. They are also an excellent opportunity for both Polish and international students to socialize and have fun together.
