Montenegro 2022

After a two-year break caused by the pandemic in Poland, the dancers of Folk Group “Wielkopolanie” went on another artistic journey to spread Polish culture around the world. From the 1st to 8th of July, they made Greater Poland famous in Montenegro. The trip of „Wielkopolanie” was the 119th one in its almost sixty-year long history, during which they promoted the Wielkopolska region and Polish culture of dancing, music and singing.

Established on June 5th in 2006, after the collapse of the federation of Serbia and Montenegro, now it is a place where the cultures of two worlds is intertwined: oriental and European, but also a place with its own rich culture. The dancers of the older group of the Folk Group “Wielkopolanie” could feel its diversity, splendor and multitude by participating in the International Folk Festival in Sutomore.

The festival is a true celebration of international dances, singing and music, attracting crowds of audiences to all concerts. During all five days of the festival, all the bands and groups presented their native folklore in 5 full-performance concerts and 2 street parades. The organizers of the festival made sure that the participants also got acquainted with this different culture and art of Montenegrin. All the dancers and musicians of the ensembles had the opportunity to see, or even “touch” the culture and art of the past times of this country. They visited the monuments of Bar, learning about their history, visited museums, and learned the traditional Balkan dances that characterize this thirteen-year-old country.

The Polish folklore presented by the older group of “Wielkopolanie” was extremely appreciated by the Montenegrin audience. Words of appreciation for the band were expressed not only by the organizers but also by the audience gathered during all concerts.
