Greater Poland culture

In November, the dancers of the Wielkopolanie Folklore Group presented the dance and music culture of Wielkopolska in over 20 educational and cultural institutions.
During concerts for schools and kindergartens, they showed the beauty of the “Bambry”, “Dąbrówka Wielkopolska” and the Szamotuły region dances. Authentic costumes, dance steps and figures specific to individual subregions and music played in the authentic composition of the bands aroused admiration from the youngest to the oldest participants of the concert. Children and young people had the opportunity not only to watch costumes, dances and songs but also could dance and play with the dancers. To the sounds of the wedding goat they danced “Szmyt”, “Gołąbek”, “Mikołajek”, and also played “Myszka” and other games typical of western Wielkopolska. The band’s musicians, students of the Forge of Tradition, presented viewers with two instruments characteristic of their native musical folklore: a “wedding goat bagpipes” and “sierszenki”. It was these two instruments that enjoyed the great interest of over 1,000 concert participants.
Educational school concerts are an idea to enable contact with the culture and art of young and the youngest audience. “Wielkopolanie” have been going on concert tours for many years to educate children and youth among the values of Polish culture, with particular emphasis on folk dance and music. These concerts are complementary to school programs related to broadly understood culture.
