On May 16th, the National Night of Museums was celebrated across Poland. A beautiful event took place at the District Museum in Konin, integrating social groups and bridging generations. “Get ready to dance” with Folk Group „Wielkopolanie”, a museum lesson as part of the “Ordinary Extraordinary Project with the Majority”, adapted for people with hearing and visual disabilities, became an excellent link between history, culture, and tradition with the contemporary need for accessibility and social integration.

The open event was attended by hundreds of visitors, including blind and deaf people who, accompanied by a sign language interpreter, joined other participants in a dance and music journey through the history of Greater Poland and other regions of Poland. The lesson was led by Piotr Kulka, Director of Folk Group „Wielkopolanie”, who, along with dancers and the music band, presented traditional costumes, dances, and songs from Greater Poland and other regions. The audience was first introduced to the Szamotuły repertoire, complete with traditional instruments, accompanied by a „maryna”. „Wielkopolanie” then performed Łowicz dances, delighting the audience with the colorful and cheerful costumes of this region. The next part of the lesson featured a performance by traditional musicians from Greater Poland playing the Greater Poland bagpipes, the tied fiddle, and the Greater Poland goat bagpipes. Accompanied by a bagpipe band, the dancers performed dances and songs from the lands of Biskupizna. The lesson concluded with a Krakow accent, presenting the musical and dance culture of the eastern Krakow region.

The event also included time for fun. The group’s performances were interspersed with socializing, dancing with the audience, learning steps together, and traditional singing from the Greater Poland region. A wonderful atmosphere prevailed during the event, and all visitors actively participated in the fun.

The photography during the event was handled by Kasjan Farbisz.
