From Lubelskie to Wielkopolska
Folk Group “Wielkopolanie” had the opportunity to participate in unique dance workshops of Lublin region, which took place in Poznań on September 14-15, 2024.
Under the supervision of an experienced instructor, Ernest Szymański, representing the Song and Dance Ensemble “Lublin” of Wanda Kaniorowa, “Wielkopolanie” could explore the secrets of dances of Lublin region. These workshops were a unique opportunity to expand knowledge about the cultural heritage of eastern Poland, which musical and dance richness stands out compared to other regions.
During intensive classes, participants learned traditional choreographic patterns typical of this region, such as Mach and Osa. The high tempo and precision of movements, typical of Lublin dances, were a challenge for the dancers, but also an inspiration to further work on their skills.
Ernest Szymański, who has been promoting folk culture of Lublin region for years, was committed to sharing his knowledge and experience, introducing the participants not only to dance steps, but also to the historical context and the importance of individual elements of folklore. It is worth adding that on a daily basis he combines the functions of Deputy Director and choreographer of Song and Dance Ensemble “Lublin”.
The workshops were an opportunity for “Wielkopolanie” not only to improve their dancing skills, but also to integrate and exchange experiences with representatives of other regions of Poland.
