Christmas is a time of joy, a time of love but also a time of family gatherings. On Christmas Eve we meet at richly set tables, sing carols, share a wafer and give each other Christmas wishes. All these Christmas traditions have been maintained by the Folklore Group “Wielkopolanie” for many years.
On December 11, a large family of executives, dancers and musicians sat at the Christmas Eve table. As always, it was family, warm and musically. The evening began with the most beautiful Polish carol “God is born”, which was sung by over a hundred participants of the meeting. This year’s eve was also musically honored by students of the Forge of Tradition, playing on sierszenki, mazanki, wedding goats and bagpipes from Greater Poland. Later, as always, it was traditional – summary of the year, wishes, sharing a wafer. At the tables with Christmas Eve dishes you could spend a little time talking, remembering and planning.
The past year was very busy for the inhabitants of Wielkopolska. He abounded in unique trips, many concerts both full-spectacle and educational, together over 300. So the dancers of the band had many opportunities to get to know each other and make friends. Most importantly, however, that thanks to their systematic work on a daily basis, they help to save Polish music and dance traditions from oblivion and cultivate especially the folk traditions of Greater Poland.
