Christmas Eve for the people in need

The Folkloristic Group “Wielkopolanie” has been supporting charity campaigns to help those most in need for many years. This year, thanks to the cooperation with the Become a Cabaret Star Association, they joined the “Christmas Eve with Smoleń” campaign.

The event began with a holy mass in the church of Corpus Christi, and then a Christmas Eve for the needy was organized near the statue of Bohdan Smoleń, an actor, satirist, and cabaret artist. Meals donated by people of good hearts, Poznań restaurateurs, were served by Caritas eateries after the traditional sharing of the wafer. The action was accompanied by concerts of pastorales and Christmas songs performed by Poznań choirs and the “Wielkopolanie” Folk Group. The artistic program of the Provincial Public Library and Cultural Animation Center in Poznań includes Christmas songs from various regions of the country. The biggest surprise was the Wielkopolska pastorals sung to the accompaniment of traditional instruments such as the white goat, bagpipes and a tied violin.

A nice touch was the dressing of the monumental figure of Bohdan Smoleń in a hat and scarf prepared by Agnieszka Litwin.
