Ignysiowy Laur 2021

II Festival of Folk Culture "Ignysiowy Laur" From 19 to 20 June in Śmigiel and Nietążkowo, the 2nd Festival of Folk Culture "Ignysiowy Laur" was held, a celebration of folklore, culture and tradition. The festival was attended by dancers and musicians of the Folklore Group "Wielkopolanie", the Song and Dance Ensemble "Żeńcy Wielkopolscy" and the traditional bands "Forge of Tradition" "Manugi", "Sokoły", "Żeńcy Wielkopolscy" and "Kotkowiacy", as well as laureates of the traditional bagpipe music competition.

            Workshops took place on Saturday at the Secondary School Complex in Nietążkowo for young musicians of bagpipe bands and a traditional bagpipe music competition run by experienced folk artists. In the workshops, the Kościan bagpipes was practiced, which all the musicians - participants of the competition presented during the Sunday concert. On that day, at the cemetery in Smigiel, the pipers commemorated the life and activities of Edward Ignyś and Edmund Wasielewski - doyen of traditional musical folklore in Wielkopolska.

In Morownica, they learned about the history of this town and the activities of Oskar Kolberg and Bogumił Hoffem there. Sunday is the first concert of the Wielkopolanie Folk Group after a fourteen-month break caused by the pandemic. On the stage, in front of the large audience, the artists from Poznań presented their native music and dance folklore, as well as the culture of five regions of Poland.

On that day, the results of the competition for young adepts up to 21 years of age were announced, in which the musicians of the Forge of Tradition operating at the Folk Group "Wielkopolanie" took the leading places:

  • 1st place in the soloists category - Wojciech Ożóg (Greater Poland bagpipes)
  • 1st place in the category of bands - Fryderyk Jankowski (bagpipes) and Jagoda Pawlak (tied violin)
  • 2nd place in the soloists category - Jagoda Pawlak (tied violin)
