Children's celebration of folklore
The International Children's Folk Festival "Kids Fun Folk" is a true celebration of music, dance and singing, permanently inscribed in the calendar of the city of Poznań and the Greater Poland Voivodeship. This year's event under the patronage of the Mayor of Poznań, due to the pandemic restrictions in force, was held in a hybrid form.
On June 19, at the festival organized by the Association of Folk Culture Sympathizers "Open to folklore", in cooperation with the Folk Group "Wielkopolanie", in the Old Warta River Basin in a hybrid form, young artists presented their native folklore and traditions at the highest level. As in previous years, the dancers of "Wielkopolanie" actively participated in the organization of the festival. Some of them were group pilots, others formed a technical team, others, as volunteers, helped with all festival events.
The Children's Folk Group "Cepelia-Poznań", the "Marynia z Wronki" Folkloristic Group, the "Szamotuły" Folkloristic Group and the "Grojcowianie" Folkloristic Group from the Żywiec Region appeared on the stage in the Warta Park. For the eleventh time in the history of festivals, viewers could watch children's folklore of other nations, but unfortunately this time only on a large screen. Especially for this year's event, the following presentations were prepared by: Children's Dance Group "Radist" from Ukraine, Folk Group "Balada Dornelor" from Romania, Children's Folk Group "Era" from Serbia, School of Folklore named after St. Marta from Portuzelo from Portugal, The Folk Group "Sueños y Semillas" from Costa Rica, the Folk Group "Rosna Kitka" from Bulgaria and the Group of the Ministry of Culture of Malaysia. The viewers could also follow the event online in two language versions, in Polish and English.
In the Stare Koryto Warty park, viewers could also weave wreaths from live flowers and watch the exhibition of awarded works of the Provincial Children's Art Competition "Child in the folklore of the world".
The Kids Fun Folk Festival is a celebration that cultivates and disseminates children's achievements of the intangible cultural heritage of many nationalities. Addressed to children and young people, as well as to the inhabitants and tourists of the region, it enjoys great recognition and gives a lot of joy to the ever large audience. The festival is also a meeting place for children from various cultural backgrounds, where - while having fun together - they learn about the richness and diversity of traditions of different countries and regions, learn tolerance and respect towards the faith, culture, customs and behavior of their peers.
