CARNIVAL BALL 2017

On Febuary 18th folk group „Wielkopolanie” hosted the XXXII Carnival Ball.

Once again “Angello” club greeted our dancers and their guests to celebrate this year’s carnival. The "Wielkopolanie" Ball, organized almost from the beginning of the group’s existence, are a moment in which present dancers meet with those who created its history many years ago.

However it is also a tradition to perform dances from countries to which the group had travelled in the past year, promoting Poland in both dance, music and singing.

This Year was no different. After greeting the guests with a “obrazek szlachecki” in which the dancers presented polonaise, krakowiak and mazur danced at the ball at the turn of XIX and XX century they invited numerous guests to dance. The dance in question was polonaise danced by all according to tradition.

Next “Wielkopolanie” showed the true beauty of Korean and Czech culture in choreography by Nicol Krzyzanek, Mikolaj Szymanski, Agata Pospiech and Bartosz Marciniak.

It is in these countries that the dancers and musicans of the Poznań-based group of the Provincial Public Library and the Cultural Animation Center in Poznan participated in the Folklore Festivals in 2016.

Last year was also a time in which two young people from “Wielkopolanie”-Agata Pospiech and Bartosz Marciniak completed an instructors course in Cracow with an excellent grade. Their thesis were also presented to the guests of this year’s event.

Agata created an etude “Every one of us is an angel with one wing”-if we want to fly we have to embrace strongly.

Bartosz presented “Hope”.

All the participants danced and laughed until the break of dawn

According to many years of tradition the team board announced the

“Wielkopolanin of the year 2016”.  In this year’s competition the winner was Daniel Powroziewicz. A person who got involved in all aspects of the group’s life. A great dancer and a friend-as his colleagues say.

“Wielkopolanie” have no time to take a break and rest beacause they just started a tour of concerts around Wielkopolska region. They perform in schools and kidergartens, where together with Pro Sinfonika they promote the folklore of Cracow region.
